Electronic Interlocking System Design
Developed to Indian Railways RDSO specification 192/2005 and in compliance with CENELEC standards, this system meets the highest Safety Integrity Level requirement (SIL-4). The design provides the operator with total control over the yard to ensure safe train movement.
Rail’s Electronic Interlock is a distributed system where the Central Interlocking Unit connects to yard elements through Object Controllers. Both the Central Interlock Unit and Object Controllers use triple modular redundancy to ensure higher reliability and availability.
Optical fiber cable connectivity between the CIU and OCs reduces the need for copper cables and results in significant CAPEX and OPEX savings during maintenance.
The Maintainers’ Terminal, provided as part of the Electronic Interlock system, delivers information about system health and real-time yard status to the maintainer, enabling timely maintenance.
